About Yamabiko

Yamabiko was founded by Nahoko Nakada and Chris Shinn, who met in Australia and moved to the mountain town of Sutton, in Quebec's Eastern Townships, in early 2020. They started with a coffee stand at Sutton's Saturday market and now roast in Sutton and run a café on Principale Sud. The name means "echo in the mountain", after the mountain spirit of Japanese folklore, and many coffees carry Japanese names (Kokoro, Michi). The menu is single lots from producers it returns to, such as Jaimie Burbano and Didier Ortega in Colombia and Raul and Max Perez in Guatemala, beside Ethiopian naturals and a few house espresso blends.
