Uganda is one of Africa's largest coffee exporters, historically dominated by robusta grown across much of the country. Arabica production concentrates on the slopes of Mount Elgon and the Rwenzori Mountains, where volcanic soils and high elevation yield increasingly refined lots. Bugisu-region arabica in particular has gained attention for silky body, gentle acidity, and notes of stone fruit and florals. As specialty processing spreads, single-district coffees like those from Sironko are earning a place alongside their better-known neighbors.
