Tanzania grows coffee across its highlands, from the slopes of Kilimanjaro in the north to the southern regions around Mbeya. Much of the crop is produced by smallholders organized into cooperatives, or AMCOS, that pool cherry for centralized processing. The country is famous for its peaberry sorting and for bright, structured washed coffees that echo the acidity of neighboring Kenya. Southern highland lots in particular have earned a reputation for clarity and juicy fruit character.
