Almost all of Bolivia's specialty coffee comes from one green pocket of the Yungas cloud forest: Caranavi, a few hours' precipitous drive down from La Paz. Family estates and smallholder co-ops grow Caturra and Typica alongside showpiece Java and Geisha, and meticulous mills — like the Rodríguez family's Buena Vista — turn them into some of South America's cleanest cups: caramel and red fruit, florals, a silky sweetness. Landlocked geography keeps volumes rare; when you see one, try it.
