De Mello began in 2007, when co-founders Felix and Won Cha first met specialty coffee in Australia; they opened a small café and roastery in midtown Toronto in 2013, and it has grown into a chain of cafés with its own roastery. The roaster frames its work around inspiration, collaboration, excellence and connection, buys from producers it returns to year after year, and says it shares real numbers and stories about the coffees it sells. Alongside comic house coffees and its NOMNOM instant line, it roasts a rotating list of single origins from Ethiopia, Rwanda, Costa Rica, Peru and Indonesia, also sold as green beans for home roasters.
