Flower Child Coffee

Flower Child is a one-roaster project in Oakland, California, run by its founder Prestin, who started it to explore the far end of coffee quality. Its focus is the variety: the list is built around cultivars and the places they grow, so a typical menu holds Ethiopian landraces, Kenyan SL28 and SL34, Pink Bourbon, Chiroso and Gesha from Colombia, and Typica, Mejorado and Sidra from Peru and Ecuador, each titled by its producer and variety. Every coffee gets a fully developed light roast meant to show harvest, terroir and cultivar clearly. Flower Child pays its producing partners a premium and stresses long relationships with them. It roasts on Mondays and ships on Tuesdays, and lots rotate quickly into a long archive.
