Sidra emerged from Ecuador's experimental plantings and has become one of the most coveted varieties in competition coffee. Its parentage is contested — often claimed as Typica × Red Bourbon, while the aromatics and genetics whisper Ethiopia — but the cup settles the argument in its own favour: intense florals, red and stone fruit, and a rounder, silkier body than Geisha at similar perfume. Now planted by ambitious farms in Colombia as well as at home.
