Topázio is a Brazilian variety developed by the Instituto Agronômico de Campinas from a cross of Mundo Novo and Catuai, combining the vigor of one parent with the compact stature of the other. It is well suited to the mechanized farms of Minas Gerais and São Paulo, offering good productivity and uniform maturation. The cup is typically soft and sweet, with chocolate, nutty and caramel notes that make it a dependable base for Brazilian blends. It is grown in both yellow and red fruit forms.
