Sudan Rume was collected in the Boma Plateau region near the Sudan–Ethiopia border and is considered one of the great genetic reservoirs of Arabica diversity. Long valued by breeders for its disease resilience and distinctive cup, it forms part of the parentage behind varieties like Centroamericano. On its own it is difficult to grow and low-yielding, but rewards careful producers with layered florals, red fruit, and a syrupy sweetness that has made it a favorite for competition lots.
