S795 was selected in India in the mid-20th century from a cross involving Kents and the S288 line, giving it useful resistance to leaf rust. It spread widely across India and Indonesia, where it anchors much of the Arabica grown on Sumatra, Java and Bali. In the cup it tends toward a soft, nutty sweetness with gentle chocolate and low acidity, making it dependable rather than flashy. Its vigor and adaptability keep it a smallholder favorite across Asia.
Lineage
Indian selection derived from Kents and S288, with Liberica ancestry in its background.
