Parainema was developed by Honduras's coffee institute IHCAFE from the Sarchimor line T5296, selected for strong resistance to coffee leaf rust and good productivity. Despite its disease-resistant hybrid background, careful processing coaxes out a clean, sweet, and often surprisingly complex cup. It has become a mainstay for Honduran producers seeking resilience without sacrificing quality, and washed lots regularly place well in national competitions. Grown widely in Santa Bárbara and other high-altitude zones.
