Marsellesa is a Sarchimor-type variety developed by CIRAD and ECOM, combining leaf-rust resistance with a cleaner cup than many older Catimor and Sarchimor lines. It has been widely planted across Central America, including Nicaragua, Honduras and Mexico, as growers rebuilt after rust outbreaks. The cup is balanced and sweet, often showing stone fruit, caramel and mild acidity. It offers producers resilience without sacrificing much specialty potential.
