About Catiope

Catiope is a hybrid variety developed in Colombia from a cross between Caturra and an Ethiopian landrace, prized for pulling floral, fruit-forward character into a compact, farm-friendly plant. It remains uncommon and is mostly seen in single-estate microlots from growers experimenting beyond the standard Castillo and Caturra plantings. Processed naturally it leans toward ripe stone fruit and florals with a syrupy sweetness. Its scarcity keeps it a curiosity rather than a staple, but it showcases Colombia's appetite for novel genetics.

Lineage

Reported cross of Caturra and an Ethiopian landrace.
