SL36 was selected by Scott Agricultural Laboratories in Kenya during the 1930s, alongside the far more famous SL28 and SL34. Unlike its siblings it never achieved wide distribution, and today it appears only in small quantities within older Kenyan plantings. It shares the family trait of vivid acidity and blackcurrant-leaning fruit when grown at altitude. Its rarity means most SL36 reaches cups blended among other SL selections rather than as a standalone lot.
