Mundo Novo is a natural cross between Bourbon and Typica first identified in São Paulo state in the 1940s. It became one of the pillars of Brazilian production thanks to its vigor, good yields and adaptability to a range of altitudes. In the cup it leans toward heavy body, gentle acidity and chocolate-and-nut sweetness, making it a natural fit for espresso and classic Brazilian profiles. It also serves as a parent to Catuai, one of the country's most planted varieties.
