Timor Hybrid

The Timor Hybrid (Hibrido de Timor) arose on the island of Timor as a spontaneous cross between Arabica and Robusta, giving it inherited resistance to coffee leaf rust. Breeders prized that resistance, and it became the genetic foundation for entire families of varieties including Catimor and Sarchimor. On its own it is valued more for agronomic hardiness than cup clarity, typically showing heavy body and earthy, muted sweetness. In Sumatra it is widely grown by smallholders and often blended with local selections.
